Experience Kaleo & Early Childhood Development Support Services (ECDSS) have teamed up to bring you the Kids Have Stress Too!® workshop.  This FREE evening is designed to help parents/grandparents/caregivers understand childhood stress and some practical tools to help manage it.

Experience Kaleo is a Christian charity whose aim is to give back to our community and help build connections.  We believe this evening will be worthwhile in building strong families & community.  Please join us.

ECDSS facilitators are certified by The Psychology Foundation of Canada to provide the Kids Have Stress Too!® Learning Resource. This session is designed to support parents in the promotion of effective social-emotional development and stress management techniques to parents of young children. The material is grounded in the science of early childhood and brain development and is sensitive to the day-to-day realities of both early learning and care settings and home environments.

Objectives

  • Describe stress and its impact on health and learning from a child’s perspective
  • Discuss awareness of own stressors and coping mechanisms
  • List signs and symptoms of stress in children as well as practical techniques for coping with it
  • Discuss strategies which create less stressful program and home environments by promoting self-regulation

Guest speaker Jesse Lispcombe was named the 2017 “Community Man of the Year ” by Diversity Magazine  for his commitnment to local charities and for the #MakeItAwkward campaign.  Jesse and his wife Julia launched #MakeItAwkward to combat racism and hatred in all its forms.  Jesse is a born and raised St. Albertan.  He is an actor, producer, entrepreneur, activist, husband, and father. He is passionate about communities creating environments where all people can thrive.
